The benefits children get from training in sports and martial arts are well established. Fitness, discipline, friendship, etc.
We aren’t going to talk about all that, but instead, some specific benefits that come from that training being in MMA in particular.
- It works! All techniques taught in our MMA classes come from a sport that tests them. No weird overly complicated wrist locks that only work when your opponent attacks in a certain way or flamboyant triple spin kicks that are useless if you are ever unlucky enough to find yourself in a real situation.
- More Variety! MMA contains striking techniques from Boxing, Muay Thai and others, along with grappling techniques from sports like Wreslting, BJJ and Judo. Some kids have trouble sticking to one activity or get bored doing the same exercises over and over again. With so much to learn you not only become an all round athlete comfortable striking and grappling, but it’s hard to get bored when learning MMA.
If you or your child think they would like to try a martial art, it just makes sense for that to be MMA. As they get older they may find they are attracted to one discipline or another more strongly after trying them out while learning MMA, but for a solid foundation on which to build life-long skills that will also teach you to defend yourself effectively, no sport is better.
We hold a foundations class for 3-6 year olds, but also Junior Class for 7-15 year olds. You can check the timetable page for when, or complete the form below, and we will get in touch with more info.
